Samantha Walsh Holcman is the owner and Principal Designer at SWD. She earned her degree in English Literature from the University of Michigan, then launched her career in magazine publishing at Condé Nast in New York City. Eventually returning to her California roots, Samantha pursued a postgraduate certificate in Architecture and Interior Design from UCLA, merging her lifelong passions for design, travel, and architecture.

With almost two decades of experience in high-end residential design, Samantha brings both depth and versatility to every project. Her portfolio spans Pacific Coast beach houses, traditional Manhattan apartments, Aspen mountain lodges, and historic homes in the Hollywood Hills. Her adaptability across styles allows her to craft interiors that are both cohesive and uniquely tailored to each client.

Her Approach

She approaches every space with a sharp eye for detail, aiming to create environments that are functional, comfortable, and deeply personal. She has a talent for sourcing distinctive fabrics and antiques that add a layered, collected feel to our designs. Always on the move, she draws design inspiration from her travels—often bringing back one-of-a-kind pieces for her clients.

Each home is thoughtfully tailored to the way her clients want to live, with careful attention given to custom cabinetry, bespoke furniture, and carefully curated materials and finish that reflect their individual style and needs.
